SECO International will accept nominations for each of its four prestigious awards: Optometrist of the South, Paraoptometric of the South, Award of Merit and Young Optometrist of the South. SECO invites the optometric profession to identify and recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions and dedication to optometry during the SECO 2010 House of Delegates meeting, February 12, 2010. SECO will accept nominations until November 30, 2009. To submit a nomination please provide, in the form of a letter, the nominee’s name, award for which the individual is nominated, city and state of practice, and describe the reasons why the nominee should receive the award. Also include a copy of the nominee’s biography or curriculum vitae (CV). Nominees must fit the criteria of each award category, listed below, to be considered for the award. Submit SECO 2010 award nominations to: SECO International Awards Optometrist of the South - This award is presented annually to a practicing optometrist who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. The recipient must be a member of the Southern Council and in practice during the year in which the award is presented. Paraoptometric of the South - This award is presented annually to a non-optometrist who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. By tradition, this award has been given to someone who resides in one of the Southern Council states. Award of Merit - This award is presented annually to a non-optometrist or organization who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. Traditionally this award has been given to someone who resides in one of the Southern Council states. Young Optometrist of the South - This award is presented annually to an optometrist who has been in practice less than 10 years who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. The recipient must be a member of the Southern Council and in practice during the year in which the award is presented. SECO International is accepting abstract educational poster proposals for publication in the Advanced Media Learning Center (AMLC) during SECO 2010, February 10-14, 2010. Educational posters are published on computers within the AMLC in a unique multimedia-format presentation (similar to a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation).
