Staying in Step with Innovation

This course will discuss how multifocal, intraocular lens (IOL) technology can positively influence the primary refractive co-management eye care practice. Multifocal IOL prescribing, counseling, pre-op and post-op care will be discussed and will demonstrate how this can lead to practice growth. The course also will emphasize proper ocular surface management, which is key to excellent surgical outcomes.

Retina: A Look Ahead to 2020

As we look at the future demographics of our practice, we can expect to see more patients with retinal pathology. This course will review today's cutting-edge retinal technology along with future developments. In addition, you will learn about oral, topical and injectable medications, diagnostic tests, the importance of genetics, and summaries and videos of new surgical techniques.

Closing Ceremonies - The Thrill of Vision to the Agony of Da Feet

Diabetes mellitus is a systemic disease with numerous complications in organs other than the eye. As primary care providers, optometrists play an important role on the healthcare team in promoting coordinated, timely and systematic care in preventing micro and macro vascular complications. This comprehensive course covers the expanded role of the primary care optometrist in care of the patient with diabetes and will discuss evolving trends in systemic management of the patient with diabetes, while presenting an overview of evolving therapies in treating diabetic retinopathy and other end-organ complications.

SECO 2008 has "raised the bar" again to host more than 70 social and affiliated events at SECO 2008. SECO 2008 will kick off with a reception titled "Opening Ceremonies," supported in part by AMO. Then, attendees can ride a Fur Bus to the Atlantic Station Triathlon, featuring the Bad Habits, supported in part by Allergan, and the meeting wraps up with the "Closing Ceremonies Celebration" and the legendary band America. In between these three major events are over 60 other opportunities to mingle with both new and old colleagues and friends.
"SECO 2008 will offer some really exciting opportunities for socializing and networking. Inspired by the Summer Games, SECO's three 'main' events will not only celebrate the world-famous games, but provide everyone a chance to network, relax and just have fun," said Elizabeth Taylor, Executive Director of SECO International.
