Practical Solutions for Daily Dilemmas- Part 1
Wednesday, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
This course will show you how easy it is to manage your practice by utilizing objective, industry-standard benchmarks and will show you how to analyze the data and give you practical answers related to daily operations of your practice. We will also discuss the necessary tools to handle different patient personality types, so that more patients will be compliant with your treatment plans. These tools will help you increase the quality of care delivered in your practice as well as increase patient satisfaction.

Practical Solutions for Daily Dilemmas-Part 2

This rapid fire course gives you practical answers to the daily dilemmas we face, such as written records release, the divorced parent who is paying the bill but does not have custody, and the 18 year old instructing you not to tell his parents anything. Also covered will be the changes you must make to secure your records, an easy way to code the new pay-for-performance codes, S codes to provide discounts to your self-pay patients, proficiency testing your job applicants, and the impact of HIPAA and sexual harassment rules and regulations

This course reaches the cutting edge of contemporary medical management with oral drugs used to treat eye disease. Clinical application of the oral pharmaceuticals is stressed with case presentations. Included is a review of all relevant drug classes as well as an update on what is new.

SECO International is taking nominations for four prestigious awards that will be presented at SECO 2008:

OD of the South - This award may be presented annually to a practicing optometrist who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. The recipient must be a member of the Southern Council of Optometrists and in practice during the year in which the award is presented. The President and President-Elect of SECO International are not eligible to receive this award during their term of office. Past recipients of this award are not eligible to be nominated. Please note: If you would like to enter your AOA "OD of the Year" nominee, please forward a copy of your nominee's paperwork as submitted to the AOA.

Paraoptometric of the South - This award may be presented annually to a non-optometrist who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. By tradition, this award has been given to someone who resides in one of the Southern Council states. No employee of the current President or President-Elect of SECO International is eligible to receive this award. Past recipients of this award are not eligible to be nominated.

Award of Merit - This award may be presented annually to a non-optometrist who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. By tradition, this award has been given to someone who resides in one of the Southern Council states. Past recipients of this award are not eligible to be nominated.

Young OD of the South - This award may be presented annually to an optometrist who has been in practice less than 10 years who has demonstrated a significant contribution to the optometric profession. The recipient must be a member of the Southern Council and in practice during the year in which the award is presented. The President and President-Elect of SECO International are not eligible to receive this award during their term of office. Please note: If you would like to enter your AOA "Young OD of the Year" nominee, please forward a copy of your nominee's paperwork as submitted to the AOA.

The awards will be presented at the House of Delegates meeting on Friday, February 29, 2008. Anyone may submit a nomination. To do so, please submit your nomination in the form of a letter, describing the reasons why your nominee should be considered, to:
