SECO International adopted a resolution at its recently held Board of Directors meeting to endorse the Optometry Giving Sight charity. The Optometry Giving Sight initiative works to eliminate uncorrected refractive error - the leading cause of blindness and impaired vision globally. "SECO is proud to endorse this program devoted to improving eye care in some of the world's most underserved areas," said Doug Clark, O.D., president of SECO International. SECO will add Optometry Giving Sight's logo and a link to their website in its monthly e-Newsletter sent to optometry professionals from around the world. "The support of the Southern Council of Optometrists is a fantastic boost for our fundraising efforts in the United States," said Dr. Victor Connors, a National Committee member of Optometry Giving Sight. "Having a proponent that represents most of the southern United States will help Optometry Giving Sight grow its Practice Giving Program and base of donors. Doing so will help optometry give sight to millions in need."

SECO International 2007 attendees were introduced to a new Internet-based management system when they registered to attend SECO 2007. The new SECO Profile is an online user account through which SECO attendees may register, view their registration information, and obtain handouts, purchase receipts and event attendance verification. Jon Reading, Director of Communications at SECO International, spoke about the new system, "SECO implemented an Internet-based perennial user account to facilitate the SECO experience and address the growing number of attendees who want greater control over their interaction with SECO International. The user profile system will create a similar experience to that of other online consumer accounts for users." SECO will implement new user account features throughout the summer and fall of 2007. SECO 2007 attendees may view their attendance summary and other information by visiting www.seco2007.com and logging into their online registration account (Choose from the Registration menu "Online Registration").
