Back by popular demand, the Special Topics Track continues to put you in the know about common and uncommon diseases and syndromes and how they may present themselves in your practice.
Here is a preview of the SECO 2007 topics.
Ehler's-Danlos: Making the Connection
Walter Mayo, OD
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) patients suffer from a seemingly unrelated set of orthopedic, dermatologic, cardiac, and other conditions. Undiagnosed EDS patients walk into almost every optometrist's office at one time or another. You can make an enormous impact in a young person's life by being the provider who finally recognizes this overlooked syndrome. Practitioner CD-ROMs from the National EDS Foundation will be provided.
Diabetes: From the Eye of the Beholder
A. Paul Chous, MA, OD
Get an insider's view of living with diabetes from an eye doctor who has the disease and also specializes in diabetic eye care. Learn the common mistakes made by our patients and how you can help them avoid these.
Rosacea Review
Joseph Pizzimenti, OD, FAAO
Rosacea is not actually a disease, but rather a chronic dermatologic condition that predominantly affects the face. The disease is diagnosed easily by clinical observation. This course will review the effective treatments of rosacea, including avoidance of triggers, topical and new oral antibiotic therapy, cosmetic surgery and more.

One of SECO's vital components for success is providing attendees with memorable networking events. In this area, SECO strives to provide numerous opportunities to socialize and network along with events that offer something for everyone to enjoy.
