
ATLANTA (April 27, 2005) - The Southern Council of Optometrists (SoCO) has announced Elizabeth Taylor as its new executive director. Ms. Taylor will manage the council as well as the annual SECO International Meeting - the largest optometry meeting in the world and one of the most comprehensive sources of continuing education for eye care professionals.
"With an impressive background in ophthalmic industry association management, Ms. Taylor was a clear choice to lead our organization," said Lowell H. Gilbert, O.D., President of SECO International. "She has remarkable credentials and a track record of excellence with one of the largest optical industry associations and tradeshows in the country," he added.
With more than 15 years of association management experience specific to the ophthalmic industry, Ms. Taylor is the former senior director of operations and meetings for the Vision Council of America (VCA) in Alexandria, Va. As senior director, she was responsible for International Vision Expo East, Midwest Vision Congress and Expo and International Vision Expo West. "I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to help lead SoCO and SECO International and build upon their established and well-known reputations for excellence in the field of optometry," said Ms. Taylor. "I look forward to working closely with the full-time staff, executive council and SoCO membership to continue to make SoCO and its annual congress the most successful in optometry today."
